I added the Bible verse of the day gadget to my Google home page. My mistake was going to the 'about this gadget' portion of the gadget. Many comments have been lodged there, some most likely by kids wanting to be bad and they managed it.
I was more intriqued by the vast amount of bickering among the folks over which version/transaltion should or should not be used. The overall feel that I got was a serious case of one-up-manship being played. Most never considered the core issue which I think should have been folks reading the scripture, regardless of flavor. The purpose of the gadget was to encourage reading of the scripture by anybody who downloaded the gadget. This behind the scenes glimpse into christianity left me a bit miffed. The gadget is simply a device to provide scripture to some desktop someplace. Why beat it up with debates over which version of scripture is best? I think a lot of these folks missed the point all together. I removed the gadget.
