Charges were dropped against a NH woman who was arrested for making faces at a police dog. OK, I will ASSUME that sentence took you as much offguard as it did me. Yes, I can see where the dog might get upset with somebody making faces at it. I cannot understand the woman being arrested.
Sometimes all the good policemen do is wiped clean, by a simple moment of ignorance. If the handler wanted to do something to the woman, instead of arresting her, turn the dog loose. It is a pretty safe bet the woman wouldn't have been making faces other than the ones prompted by terror. On the other-hand, I'm sure the cop would have gotten a reprimand for doing something like that. Seems to me they have to walk their dogs sometime.
For the most part, cops in general seem to be a pretty good bunch. The encounters I have had with them were pretty much reflections of my atitude towards them. I treat them civil, they treat me civil. Of course, there is always the over zealous, every citizen is a criminal, just waiting to be caught attitude that some of them have. THOSE are the ones that give law enforcement a bad name. It's too bad but, THOSE are the ones that normally make the news. My hats off to the good cops, thousands of them, and I am certainly making faces at the dogs of the handful that just take themselves too serious.
