Yes, the bushy tails are cute. The bounding through the trees no doubt get them admirers from all over. I'm not one of them.
Squirrels are good in stew and the tails make great fly tying supplies. As a critter in general, I'd prefer they live someplace else. My magnolia WOULD have been covered in flowers except the squirrels like the buds and ravaged the tree. My orchids in the shadehouse are constantly turned over from squirrels trying to bury things in the pots. The bird feeder is always empty now since I don't want to feed the squirrels anymore than I already am. They have been eating the tar lead from around the vent pipes on my roof. The pipes had to be doctored with tar to keep the squirrels away. Everytime I go outside I see squirrels. I am now advocating we ALL eat more brunswick stew! Lets get a handle on the population of squirrels by eating the surplus!
