We aren't talking just a few of these bomber size critters, we are talking squadrons of them, flying in formation to attack whatever I have exposed. My bald head must have a bullseye painted on it.
It's summer, BBQ is a national pastime. I should be able to q in relative comfort...NOT. With the rain we've had, every possible water holding anything is a breeding ground for mosquitoes. They hide under every bit of shade and make life miserable. I went out and fired up the grill and experienced weightlessness as a few of them attempted to carry me off. I grabbed on to the grill and managed to plant my feet back on the ground so I could make a dash for the porch. I think one of the bigger ones dented my door when she crashed into it. Vampires ain't got nothin' on good ol' fashioned Florida skeeters. I think all of us who live here should have at least one tourist to offer up as a sacrificial offering to the bloodsuckers. Probably wouldn't be a good thing to send the tourists home 2 quarts low...oh well, it was a pleasant thought.
My reprieve is over, I've got to go tend the grill. Wish me luck.
