Everybody has a dream...mine is a cheap camper. I am fast realizing that the odds are stacked against me and my puny budget but, I keep looking.
The 500 buck, haul it home in pieces camper, lacked appeal. The price was right but the rest of it was a better deal if I had been being paid to haul it off. I'm not really looking to BUILD a camper yet, many of what I have seen would have turned into that. Either campers are built poorly or the people that use them are one step above grizzlies. Holes in the paneling, water systems that flow out the floor, toilets that look like THEY might fall out the floor if used, all the things that I DON'T want to see when I am looking for something to buy. What ever happened to the bargain? You know the type, owned by a retired school teacher, only used on weekends, once or twice a year...
The campers I am seeing have been hard used, perhaps by the Marine Corp. These things LOOK like a platoon just left on a critical mission, consider nothing you leave behind. If you are going to show your camper, don't leave your old drawers behind, nobody wants to see them. Last years tickets for the 500 might be encouraging to prospective buyers but, last years sandwich from same event is not. The little furry creature scurrying about cannot be passed off as a pet, don't go there. The mass of spider webs and of course the spider that is nine feet long, shouldn't be there either. Spiders that big will give potential buyers cause to reconsider the outdoors. They could also cause damage to your camper or your person if you happen to be in the way of the door.
Your camper does not need to be pristine, it should be clean. If it is missing half the floor, don't say "it needs a little work, or needs TLC," that is just going to cause hard feelings. If people take the time to view your gem, you should at a minimum have been honest in your ad. If somebody is looking for a 'fixer upper' they will respond. If they are looking for a well cared for, nothing needed but the vacation, they will be annoyed with an obvious work needed, possible rebuild.
Yup, I'm still looking.
