The newspaper ran an article about ethenol and even though it is SUPPOSED to save us gas, and a few bucks at the pump, it is not proving out that way. Less power and less fuel efficiency doesn't make a lot of sense. Compound that with the fact that the sellers get there enhanced fuel for less money, we as consumers should see a MUCH bigger price difference at the pumps than we do.
OK, so my big old truck will NEVER be fuel friendly, I seriously cannot accept less miles per gallon so ethenol makes no sense for me. Yes, I could take a loss of power as long as I wasn't hauling anything but blast if I can deal with less MPG! Something is WRONG with this picture. Instead of dreaming up ways to use up potential food sources to fuel our vehicles, we need to be dreaming up ways to change our consumption totally. Solar is a free source, why can't we use that? Why can't we evolve a fuel source that makes sense rather than revisit technology that we already know isn't the way to go? The biggest reason this isn't happening is the big bucks belong to those who are in oil, or are heavily tied to oil, and there is not enough funding available for research into alternatives. The big money don't want a new source or new technology as long as they can sell OIL. Once again, we are locked in by greed to a downward spiral. How will we end up? Global warmed into oblivion or starved to death by fuel reliance...either way doesn't sound appealing to me, how about you?
