Yes, couch potatoes have been around with us for decades and no doubt always will be. The difference now is there is more choices to couch potato with! TV with 500 channels, a gazillion options on sizes and screen make up, all hinging on the size of your wallet. Computers and all forms of electronic gaming can easily keep you perched on your butt for hours and hours on end.
Take a good look around you and you will see a society that is growing bigger and bigger by the year. No, I'm not talking about population, I am talking about girth. On the whole, we are getting fat. Nevermind reading this if you only weigh a hundred pounds soaking wet, this isn't meant for the likes of you. However, if you can honestly admit to being over weight, you might benefit from reading this. Excessive weight has been documented to increase your risk for all kinds of health problems. Being overweight forces you into an ever expanding wardrobe. The heavier you get, the less likely you are to get up and do something, you are more content to sit there and gain some more poundage. Forget all the fancy and expensive diets, try some exercise first. Calories in versus calories burned is a much better way to make some headway and get healthy in the process. Of course, there is a disclaimer here, I am NOT a doctor, consult with your doctor before beginning any exercise or diet program. OK, get off your duff and go someplace and walk. Yup, just walk. Obviously, to see dramatic weight loss you will be doing a good bit of walking. Just start small and work your way up as you can. You will feel better for it and the weight will begin to go away. Get up from in front of whatever media you are using and get outside in the fresh air and walk. The #1 cure for media-itis is walking!
