There may well be a lapse of several days before another post makes its way here. I am taking off for a week to wander some woods, goof off, and check out a little cold weather.
[More:]
The woods are mine, and I will be testing the quantity of rattlesnakes per acre. No, I have no intention of catching them, nor do I really plan to mess with them unless of course, they mess with me. That would be a bad thing for them. As cold as it is, I doubt I will see much of anything but you can't never tell. I will be looking for property stakes and basically just looking over the property in a more serious fashion.
I will take some measurements, pound in a few stakes and maybe try to get a handle on where I want to put in a food plot. Mostly I expect to be walking and looking around. Having checked the forecasts I could find, it doesn't look like snow will be in the picture even if the temperatures are cold enough for it. I realize that it makes absolutely no sense for somebody like me, who REALLY doesn't like the cold, to go off in search of cold weather but sometimes, you just have to do what you have to do. In this case, the timing is such that cold or no, I have to go. My packing is pretty much complete and I have confidence that I am prepared for the cold with warm clothes, I even found a pair of gloves! Sometimes, things work out better than others and even though it is a mite cold, this trip works out as a prelude to the next one which happens in April which will be much more serious an endeavor. The game plan then is to put in the food plot, cut some trees, and perhaps build a small cabin. Time will tell just how much REALLY gets done. In the mean time, this post will have to do until I manage to post another. Ya'll have a great day!
