The U.S. has had cheap gas, yes, I said cheap gas, compared to the rest of the world for a LONG time. Our fuelish addiction has now come around to bite us. In our defense, we don't have the mass transit systems like the majority of European countries do so it is not as easy to wean ourselves off our gas guzzlers. Again, this was our own doing since we have always chosen to drive rather than ride, there was no emphasis on public transportation. Now we pay. Sitting around pissing and moaning over the price of gas will accomplish nothing. Our wake up call has arrived and kicked us in the face. We have no choice but cut back, conserve, hunker down and endure. Since we have been driving around with blinders on, our fuelish addiction is going to hit us in a lot more places than at the pump. Our society on the whole runs on fossil fuels.

Virtually everything we buy will be affected by the rising cost of fuel and of course that cost gets passed on to the consumer. The big platform for our wayward politicians is to save us some money over the summer on our gas prices! That is like putting a bandaid on a severed torso. Change has to happen and has to happen now. We have no choice at this point. What can we do? Car pool, ride bikes, walk, conserve energy where possible and seek alternatives for our current gas guzzlers. Change begins with us.
