Reading the news...why?

Permalink 09:14:13 am, Categories: News and Opinions

Have you ever noticed that todays news is almost the same as last weeks news? OK, names and places change but everything else stays the same. Crimes, scandals, wars, rumors, and economic downturns comprise the majority of the news.

[More:]

Why do we bother to read this stuff? Due to the economic issues facing the United States, the rest of the world will experience a downturn on growth. OK, why do I care? Why do I want to know that the rest of the world won't do well as the United States is held hostage to crude prices? Why should I care that the rest of the world will have a slow down because we aren't doing well? They have a LOT of OUR jobs. They SHOULD feel the pain. We have been so busy worrying over other places, we have neglected ourselves. WE have an economic crisis HERE. WE have problems HERE. It is time WE started looking after our own and pay a bit less attention to everybody else. Half the world wants us to shrivel up and die. That's almost funny since we support half of them with our various policies. We have overextended ourselves and now we need to regroup, at home. WE have homeless, hungry, and no jobs, lets work on that for a change. The oil companies are showing record profits while ordinary folks are barely hanging on since their fuel costs have now invaded their food budget. Once again, the rich get richer, at the expense of the poor. We have a government that ignores the people and does as it bloody well feels. Yes, we have problems, and it is more than an economic downturn. No these problems won't go away overnight, but they can be fixed. We are a nation of patriots and we CAN pull together and solve whatever issues are thrown at us. Screw the news! God Bless America!
