What is up with TV providers? It is bad enough I pay an arm for the privilege of watching TV, it seems like I should be able to find something to watch!
OK, one of the obvious areas to reduce spending is to cut back on what you spend for TV. I got to thinking about this and decided that it made sense. I went online to my TV service provider and dropped to the minimum package, thereby cutting my bill by more than half. The process went very smoothly until I turned on the TV. By cutting to the minimum package I effectively cut off the half dozen or so channels I actually watch. I am now left with channels that I will never turn on an a few local ones. Pretty neat trick don't you think? To get the few channels that you KNOW you watch, you have to be with the upgraded package. Why is it that I can't custom tailor my OWN package of channels? I could put together say a dozen channels I would actually watch and I wouldn't have to pay for all the ones I consider to be trash. It's not like the technology isn't there already, you change a package and it is instantly changed before you can even change your mind. If you add a channel, it is turned on instantly and your bill adjusted accordingly. Why can't I just set up my own custom package and leave the trash? What's up with having to pay for all the channels I never use when I only use a fraction of canned packages? There is something wrong with this picture. All those channels that program garbage should not be included as part of the force feeding for a savvy consumer. We SHOULD be able to program our satellite boxes to only get the channels we want. Yes, people in Hell want ice water too!
