Isn't it funny

Permalink 08:47:26 am, Categories: News and Opinions

Yesterday I watched a show on an industrial air scrubber designed to clean the air of carbon dioxide, the main cause of global warming. The show was fascinating, the scrubber worked and presented only two downsides. The first was how to make money with it since nobody is all that interested in giving away money for a cleaner environment. The other was people knowing there might be a fix for the problem, reduces their incentive to reduce the amount being generated.

[More:]

Either downside is perfectly understandable. No profit potential is a serious downside to any invention or device, regardless of the favorable impact to mankind. We are profit driven. Knowing potential cures for what ails us keeps us doing all the things we know are wrong. In that regard, we consistently demonstrate our lack of good sense.

Today, I read in the news we have peaked again in carbon dioxide output, accelerating all the negative forecasts for our global future. We have replaced our humanity with greedy little gnomes who seek profit above all else. Has anybody considered that all that profit is useless if you aren't around to spend it? The continued exploitation of the earth, ignoring the known consequences, will only lead to the demise of humanity. I guess when the earth is populated with just bugs, it will heal itself. Too bad we never learn until it is too late. Isn't it funny...mankind, the only enemy.
