Looking out the back window on an overcast day, I can see the downside to solar power. Still looking out that window, I see the wind is blowing pretty good, alternative energy number two, wind. Being of a reasonably curious nature I did some Googling and found a multitude of results covering wind power. Surprising, to me, is how much of this information is being shared by do it yourselfers! The quest is to disperse the information and make it available to those who will attempt to use it. A classic example of sharing, to make the world a better place.
These folks have invested time, money, and energy into building and displaying functional wind generators. Projects that a lot of us could do in our spare time. Powering things from the wind is not new. Power from the wind lately, has changed a good deal. Helical rotors seem to be offering the most promise but the more conventional blades are the most common. We can't do much about solar power since building the cells gets into pocket really fast. The alternative is wind power. Car alternators from the junk yard to high tech permanent magnet motors, it has possibilities to fit any budget. We NEED to experiment with alternatives, even on small scales since every little bit helps. Build a wind power generator to power something around the home and you have reduced your electric consumption by that much. It IS doable. Why not Google for some info today?
