What folks in Florida consider cold would make our northern neighbors laugh. Doesn't matter, Floridians, the REAL kind, get cold when the temps hit 60 or less. Some of us have less tolerance than others. The 41 degrees this morning prompted a breakfast of hot oatmeal and an extra pot of coffee. I don't like the cold.

By the time lunch time had rolled around we were in a heat wave and it was up to 60. I fixed a can of soup for lunch, HOT, with crackers. I have been in and out but when I was out, I had on a flannel shirt. I don't care that our northern neighbors might consider this t-shirt weather, when I am cold, I'm cold. Yes, I even turned my heat on this morning to warm up the house. Did I mention I HATE to be cold? Cold weather makes me ache. It reminds me of how many years are in the past. It makes my skin similar to rice paper, and tears just as easy. It makes my nose run which does not go well with a mustache. You make your nose sore from blowing it and your mustache looks like its got mange from all the hairs you pulled out. Cold weather is not fun. Cold weather is just time to stay inside, stay warm, eat hot meals and contemplate the joys of hunting season. Cold, crisp mornings, walking through the woods. Yes, the only upside to cold weather is hunting season. I even shelve my dislike of cold to go out and play in it. I HATE cold weather, except when I'm out hunting. The advantage of cold during hunting season is it tames the mosquitoes and I hate those flying monsters worse than the cold. Florida has some serious mosquitoes, similar to B-52's and they always fly in large formations. A swarm can cover you up, suck you dry, and leave a shriveled husk behind. Yes, we have SERIOUS mosquitoes. Thank goodness for the cold...
