Finding wood for your next project may be as simple as just going for a walk. Whilst you are walking, keep your eyes open and really look at what is around you. I am posting a few pictures here of various wood finds that popped up on a short walk along San Francisco Bay. Get out there and find some wood!

This big beam could make several things even after removing the section that has been chewed up by the rocks.

Here's acouple of big chunks suitable for turning on your lathe.

This hunk of driftwood could become a lamp, bandsawn box, or anything else that struck your fancy.

This big old beam would take some serious work to get home and then you'd have to do some creative cutting on it but, there IS good wood there. Use your imagination and you will come up with something that this piece would be well suited for.
OK, so there you have it, a quick walk along the shore and I located 4 sources of free wood. What more can you ask for?
