The no code aspect of amateur radio will REALLY kick in this weekend. All at once folks will have access to bands that had been reserved for higher licenses. The debate still rages over whether this is a good thing or not. I hope it won't be met with snobbish attitudes as the new guys hit the air.
Buxcommhas been supporting ham radio packet for years and years. I ordered my second Rascal from them and just got it in. The first one, several years old, has been sent to my base station, the new one will go with the laptop.
My Yaesu FT-470 is built like a brick, was bought on Ebay and so far has only cost me a battery. I wasn't real happy with the reception so, I decided to buy an antenna.
I finally got my laptop and it is the Acer Aspire 3050. 1.8Ghz Sempron 3400+ processor with 512MB DDR2 memory, 40GB drive, 14.1 WXGA monitor, DVD+RW/CD-RW and Win XP Media Center. SUPPOSEDLY this machine is Vista capable.
