When you pick up a board you need to look at in several ways. Sighting down the board’s width while holding it out will reveal CUP, which is the condition of the board curling up at the width. You can also see BOW, which is the wood bowing along its length. Sighting down the narrow edge, you can see TWIST, which is exactly what the name implies; the board is trying to be a propeller. You may also see CROOK, the board is warping up along its length, remember the dog’s hind leg?
