A few pine boards a wee bit of time and this bookcase is cake.
This particular bookcase is actually going to be hung on the wall. The legs are 2 by 3's, the shelves are 1 by 8's. It is actually going to hold clocks but the design is simple and expandable to suit what you need. The shelves are 46 inches long, the legs are 36 inches high. The spacing is identical from top and bottom so it can be used either way and look the same.
A wobble dado blade made the joint with my radial arm saw. I locked the joint together with glue and drywall screws, apearance wasn't a big concern for me as this is going in my hobby room.
The leg view of the bookcase gives you a rough idea of what it actually looks like. For my purposes, this will be fine. It COULD be beautified, no screws, made of hardwood and a good finish applied. The shelves could be deeper but I don't think I would go wider if you are planning on putting a lot of weight on them, they will sag. Simple, cheap, functional, my kind of project!
