OK, its a tad early but I am sitting here at the computer and I happened to look over at a birdhouse a friend had given me. The birdhouse is sitting on a shelf and no, it has never been lived in. It is rustic and a bit beat up from being 'aged' by a few whacks with a chain then painted up. It is a little bit country and a lot homey, mostly due to who made it. Anyway, looking at this birdhouse it hit me that a tall skinny birdhouse with a hinged front would make a great place to keep CD's or DVD's. IF you have some 1 x 6 pine in your scraps or even if you go buy some it will work just fine. Visualize a birdhouse then stretch it to suit the height of your holder.

The above is the old birdhouse. It can be duplicated however you would like. It is little more than a peaked box with a roof. Since YOU are building it, you make your angles for the roof work, with whatever angle YOU decide. Just think simple, take your time and it will be cake.

The above picture is a simple DVD rack built from 1 x 6's and cut to fit DVD's in their cases. It used up some scrap I had on hand. For decorative purposes I added facing of roughly eight inch stock. Using this proceedure a door COULD be attached to it. Now, in your mind, merge the two pictures and you have a birdhouse DVD rack or CD rack, your preference. Build it to suit YOU and then send me a picture, I'd like to see it! IF you need a hand drop me a line and I will see if I can help out. I really think as long as you think simple and build to suit yourself, I've given you enough information to build a great looking rack. Enjoy!!
