For the last several weeks I have been on a regretable project that I hope none of you ever have to endure.  I have been cleaning out my two junk rooms with the theretical objective of combining the two.  IF I managed to pull off the monumental feat, I would have room for a small pool table.  Knowing that my closest kin is the packrat, that will give you an idea of how bad it has been.  The benefit of being a woodworker is being able to knock together some odds and ends when you need them, like shelves.  With so little room to work with I had no choice but to go up.  Not quite ceiling high but high enough I strain to reach the top stuff.

Anyway, the shelves were constructed of 1 x 8 pine.  I opted for this simply because it was the best looking lumber available.  The narrower shelves MIGHT force me to not load them up so bad.  Creative shelf building dictates you build what you need, and it might not look all that great.  Since there are no pictures, you can safely assume they really don't look all that great.  They ARE functional.  As the space crunch began to get really tight I began losing confidence and realized that some of this stuff had to go into the woodshop.  My woodshop is already stuffed but I had some decent paths to get around.  No more.  You now need to be a thin midget to progress through my shop and your only hope of doing any woodwork is in the driveway, PROVIDED you can get to the tools.  This brings me to shop rule number one.  IF it does not pertain to woodworking, NEVER allow it in your shop.  You need to be especially certain your significant other doesn't realize there might be a smidgen of space in your shop or they will certainly insist that your fishing tackle be removed from the living room.  They will inform you that NOBODY believes it is a stylized hat rack regardless of what hat or hats you hang on it.

To make an agonizing story short, I have a pool table and a pool room.  My fishing tackle and a whole bunch of other stuff is piled into the woodshop.  My next monumental task will be once again cleaning out the shop.  I hate that.  Right now, the only way I can make chips is with my pocket knife.
