You know the kind of cutting boards I am talking about, the kind you cut food on, not the kind you cut everyday in the shop. The best choice of woods for cutting boards is one of the hardwoods, Maple in particular. However, having experienced a brain pain or two about cleaning and care of cutting boards, I changed my game plans. Nearly every store has some kind of plastic/durable material cutting board that can be run through the dishwasher and sanitized. Why not buy a batch of these easily cleaned/replaced cutting boards, then make a decorative wood frame for them to sit in? You've now got the beauty of your woodwork that won't get chopped! Using the plastic cutting boards as replaceable inserts for a decorative cutting board in your kitchen makes good sense. No more worrying over the board warping, delaminating, coming unglued, joint seperation, and other total disasters from the diswasher. Now your work of art can BE a work of art and never be subjected to the normal abuse thrust upon a working cutting board. Sounds like a plan to me. Since I imagine a lot of you are currently having colder days than I, why not take a break and go stand someplace warm? Florida may not get cold to some of you but for those of us born here, anything 60 and below prompts cold weather clothing. On those off times when it is hovering around or below 30, it is immediately classified crazy cold, not fit to be out in without snowsuits. Our stores don't sell snowsuits so this kind of cold tends to keep folks like me indoors. It was 40 degrees INSIDE my shop. I locked the door and came back inside where it is warm. I scraped ICE off my windshield this morning...that is just WRONG! Ya'll have a great day!!!
