All you folks who clicked here to see some skin should be thankful, there will be no beached whale in a tool belt parading around. When I said "Naked" I meant freestyling, just winging it, no plans to follow just a few measurements and a need.

The need was for a small cabinet to sit next to the laundry room sink. No frills needed, just function. A little bit of additional challenge was to use up some scrap and junk from the shop. I tend to have a LOT of that stuff. To begin with I had some left over floor boards. That seemed to be taking up a lot of space. A few glue-ups later, I had sides for the cabinet!
Glue-ups

Never forget a little creative thinking when it might just be all you need!

More glue-ups

Side panels from floor boards may not be the best idea but for what I am doing and what I have on hand it worked out great!

Side of cabinet

Like I said, this is no beauty queen but it IS using up scraps!
Inside details

Yes, the cut offs from the floor boards were glued in place to add strength and a few brads held them while the glue set up.

Shelf bracket

Nothing fancy for the shelf to sit on, just some more scrap from the shop.

Close up of top

The top had spent considerable years as an outside workbench and was showing it's age. A few of the worst spots cut away and it is now the top for this cabinet. Yes, it is oak and that is a spline showing. I'm not sure just how long ago I built it but it really owes me nothing!

Top attachments

The top is attached with a couple of 'L' brackets salvaged from something and a couple of aluminum pieces salvaged from a motorhome. Nope, nothing fancy here. The back is an odd piece of ply that was in one of my piles.

The door will also be glued-up floorboards hanging on salvaged hinges. The whole thing will get a few coats of varnish. I might run the router along the top to ease the edges, I haven't got that far yet.

There you have it. Naked woodworking at it's finest, or roughest, depending on your point of view. Get out there and make some chips!!
