My shop is 300 + square feet. Not large by any standards but very capable of doing whatever I decide to jump on. Pretty much, if it isn't attached to the walls, it is on wheels. I have tried millions of possible layouts and ideas, I have rearranged a gazillion times trying to squeeze in one more tool, workbench, whatever, and i have finally arrived at this.
The northeast corner of shop, pegboard storage, the plywood on the east wall holds clamps and bins. The rolling cart in the corner has my drill press and on the opposite side my mortising machine. Underneath it is my metal cutoff saw and a small rinky-dink welder. Tablesaw is just visible in bottom of picture.
This is the east wall of the shop. The plywood holds bins of drywall screws and assorted hardware, the shelf above the bins is various finishing supplies and glue. The shelf under the bins holds an assortment of hand planes, they are stacked two deep. The large rolling cart is actually my powertool workbench. It holds all my power tools on the two shelves and alloes me to work on things when it isn't covered up in junk.
Still the east wall, almost to door (edge of door visible at far right of picture). More pegboard with my ladder under it. Parts cabinets hanging on wall via french cleats, mechanics tool box in foreground, to the left is my rolling sander cart. A belt/disk sander and a band sander are mounted to it with my chopsaw underneath it.
The southeast corner of shop has the backdoor, my dust collector system, and more pegboard, shelves and part of my lathe is visible.
The south wall of shop, more pegboard and my lathe.
Southwest corner of shop, front door is visible on extreme right side. More pegboard, my bandsaw and compressor, behind them is my turning blank storage rack.
Northwest corner of shop. We bypassed the front door and are looking at my jointer, shop vac, planer, and radial arm saw, all on wheels. The lumber storage rack in behind the radial arm saw, attached to north wall. There you have it folks, the grand tour of my shop. The front door that is open is about 3 feet wide, if all doors are open (there are 3) the opening is about 10 feet. The door that is open is hinged by itself, the other two doors are a bifold arrangement, all open to the outside. Having the doors open most of the time is the advantage of living in Florida!
