A little rain never hurt anybody...right?  What about the extension cord laying across the ground, through the water, with your saw plugged into it?  Yes, simple things can cause us to get careless and could ultimately result in disaster.  When the weather is bad, using your plugged in tools will not win you any awards for smarts if you are using them outside.  No, I didn't have a near death experience or anything close thank goodness.  I was simply loading up the back of the truck with tools for my next job.  I have been dodging in and out of rain all morning and as it is prone to do, my mind wandered a bit.  I will be setting up to rip some ply and do some floor repair.  The house is empty so i have the luxury of setting up inside, away from the wet.  The day is supposed to be an all day duck affair, lots of rain, plenty of puddles.  NOT a day for extension cords across the ground.  Sometimes, that tiny little bit of common sense we are all SUPPOSED to possess, can save our bacon.  I am aware that some folks seem to have been out to lunch when this goodly possession was passed out so I am writing this as a friendly reminder.  ANY time you are using power tools, you must be careful, especially true when conditions are less than desireable.  Be safe, make chips!
