Room makeover with just simple, economical flooring. Peel and press tile is a fast way to change the look of a room. No, it won't last like real tile but bang for buck is great! Redoing the flooring in a room can elevate most folks away from doghouse status and it is simple and quick.
Measure your room and figure out how many square feet it has (width x depth for square feet) Run down to your favorite home improvement place and look for peel and press tile that you like. Check the box of tile to see how many square feet in the box. Divide the square feet of the room you are going to do by the square feet in the box and you know how many boxes you need. I always add an extra box just to allow for goofs and bad cuts. You decide.
Find the center of your room, grid it out as a starting point and start sticking the tile down. This is no different that laying ceramic tile as far as your layout goes. You need to consider where your cut pieces will fall and try to make sure they are in a good place and not the middle of the room.
Cutting the peel and press tile is as simple as a pair of scissors. If you happen to be working in a room with a lot of built in stuff, just measure and cut your tiles to go around it. This whole process does NOT have to be rocket science.
Other than the time spent crawling around on the floor, this is a low stress, easy improvement that can be done cheaply and quickly. The visual impact is immediate and can monumentally improve the look of a room. Don't expect the stuff to last forever, it won't. I put it in my office to buy me time to figure out exactly what I want to do in there. It went in quick, looks great, and I can rest on my laurels (or whatever) while my significant other decides what she really wants in here. Take note of the pixs, SHE did most of the work!
