A colony of termites can really mess up your whole day. These little beggers will literally eat you out of house and home. Subterrainean termites usually give themselves away with little tiny mud looking tunnels running up along the outside of your house, beginning at the ground and working up. Unfortunately they are small enough they can find cracks in your foundation and commence munching without you ever knowing it. Dry wood termites on the other hand usually begin their attack above our heads by munching away on roof joists and prize pieces of furniture. Both types leave a powdery sawdust like dust behind and you need to be on the lookout for this. IF you suspect you have termites, save yourself a lot of trouble and call a professional to look things over. Treating for termites is one of those things better left to the pros also. Don't think the wood from your local home store is 100% termite free, these critters can be anywhere. You've been warned!
