A little time spent in the shop can sometimes be beneficial and other times just be costly. I wandered around in the shop and started thinking about all the improvements I would like to make, tools I would like to get, and projects I need to build. Obviously, everything I was thinking about was costing me money.
I have been watching table saws on Ebay and YES, you CAN get pretty good buys. You just need to know what you are looking for and be patient. Don't allow yourself to get caught up in the auction frenzy or you will spend more than you intended and regardless of how good it is, you will be pissed every time you use it. The flip side of this is if you try to be too cheap, you will miss a good buy and be pissed you didn't bid more. Patience is a virtue that I am woefully short on which prompts me to be pissed often.
Anyway, that fella Norm who we ALL secretly watch and admire on TV has some really outstanding plans on his web site. You might want to take a gander at some of his stuff. I just bought a couple of them, one for the miter saw bench and storage (15 foot of bench! Yeeha!!!!) and another for what looks to be a really nice router table. Yes, these are on my agenda for my shop.
Basically, the point I am trying to make at the moment is while things are cold outside, instead of being in the shop freezing, spend some time online, look at plans, and get yourself some projects lined up! After all, it IS a new year!!!
